The Ontario Early Years Centre for Kingston and the Islands supports and empowers parents and caregivers with children birth to age 6. In collaboration with volunteers and community partners, early childhood educators foster healthy child development and positive parenting skills. Some programs are offered in French. All OEYC programs are free.

Programs

Education

1. Play and Learn

A program for adults and their children (birth to age 6). Structured and non-structured activities promote socialization and prepare children for school. The program is offered at St. Patrick Catholic School on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30am to 11:30am. Parents and/or guardians must sign in at reception. Note: programs operate according to the school year calendar. There is no cost to participate. Play and Learn is also offered in French (please see below). Contact OEYC for more information. 

 

2. J’apprend en jouant

C’est un programme pour les parents et les adultes responsible d’enfants âgés de 0 à 6 ans. Variété d’activités d’apprentissage structures et non structures qui favorisent la socialisation et la preparation à l’entrée à la maternelle. Offert jeudi 9h30 à 11h30,à L’École catholique St.-Patrick. Les participants doivent signaler leur arrive en écrivant leurs noms à la reception de l’école. Health and Wellness

1. Peek-a-Boo

A program for adults with babies (ages 0-18 months). Parents have access to public health nurses and support during the first year of their child’s life. The program is offered at St. Patrick Catholic School on Mondays from 9:30am to 11:30am. Parents and/or guardians must sign in at reception. Note: programs operate according to the school year calendar. There is no cost to participate. Contact OEYC for more information.

 

Recreation

1. Gym Program

A program for adults with children (ages 18 months to 6 years). The program focuses on physical development in a gym setting. Parents and/or guardians must sign in at reception. Note: programs operate according to the school year calendar. There is no cost to participate. Contact OEYC for more information.

 

Counselling and/or Family Supports
