Multicultural Homework Help

Newcomer youth can access homework help during ISKA’s Multicultural Youth Group. Access to computers, printers, and other tools are available and volunteers are on-hand to offer help and support in various subjects. The program runs on Tuesday during Youth Group (3:00pm to 6:00pm at Boys and Girls Club West End). There is no cost to participate. Ethnic Cooking Classes

Cooking classes offer an opportunity for newcomers and community members to get together, learn to cook, and enjoy a delicious meal. The classes are usually held on the 2nd Friday of each month in the test kitchen at KCHC (263 Weller Ave), from about 9:30am to 12:00pm. There is no cost to participate. Newcomer Youth Group

Newcomer youth are invited to attend a weekly drop-in program where they can play games, enjoy snacks, participate in community activities, and meet new people. Activities and discussions are based around getting new youth familiar with their community, services, recreation and more. Assistance with transportation can be provided. Youth Settlement Services

The Youth Settlement Worker offers settlement support to newcomer youth between the ages of 13 and 24. Youth can access support with housing, education, employment, health and legal services, immigration documentation, interpretation, community referrals, and more. Contact Cristian (613-544-4661

Immigration Document Help

ISKA staff can provide basic immigration document assistance. This can include providing immigration forms and help filling them out, explaining different immigration and citizenship processes, support navigating the Citizenship and Immigration website or call centre, etc. Contact ISKA or your Settlement Worker for more information.
English and French Conversation Circles

Newcomers are invited to practice their English and French skills in a relaxed setting, while meeting new people. Conversation circles are held on Monday evenings (from 7:00pm to 8:00pm) and Tuesday afternoons (from 3:00pm to 4:00pm) at the Calvin Park Library (88 Wright Cres). New Sisters in Canada Group
The New Sisters in Canada Group is open to all newcomer women who wish to meet, on Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Bath Road Baptist Church and practice English while focusing on a selected topic of interest.
Sewing Club
Education
Newcomers get together to work on their own sewing projects or start new ones. This group meets every other Wednesday at the Zion Complex from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
