The Central Branch offers free access to the Friends of the Library Create Space where community members can use a sewing machine, Cricut Maker and two computers for photo and video scanning and editing. Our Rideau Heights Branch offers two weekly Groove and Grow music & movement programs for children 0-5 and their caregivers, and the Teen Advisory Group offers volunteer opportunities and activities for teens in high school. Using the Library

Ages: 7-24, Adults, Seniors
If you live in the City of Kingston or the County of Frontenac, you can get a free library card. All you need is a parent/guardian to show their I.D. and sign for the card with you. The library card lets you borrow materials from any of the library’s 16 branches. All branches offer free WIFI. You can also access printing and photocopying resources at most library branches (for a small fee). Contact the library branch closest to you for more information on how to get started.

Kid's Programs


Ages: 7-24, Adults, Seniors
The library offers various programs throughout the year for kids. The goal of each program is to help children grow into strong readers and love books. Many programs are drop-in, but some will require registration. Past (and current) programs include: Family Story time, LEGO my Library, and Bedtime Stories. The Library occasionally holds PA Day events as well. Tech Tutors

Ages: Adults, Seniors
Tech tutors can help with any kind of question you have about computers and technology. Drop by the Central Library (130 Johnson St.) on Mondays and Wednesdays between 4:00pm and 6:00pm, or Friday and Saturday between 1:00pm and 5:00pm to chat with a tech tutor. You can also make an appointment for one-to-one tutoring, or for an in-depth or time-consuming question. Remember to bring your laptop, e-reader or other electronic devices.
