Child and Babytalk Drop-ins

Child and Babytalk Drop-Ins are offered by public health nurses at various locations throughout the KFL&A area.

The drop-ins offer many services for families:
  • Meet a public health nurse to discuss topics such as breastfeeding, infant feeding, parenting, safety, and sleep routines.
  • Get information on maternal, infant and child health, nutrition, and normal growth and development.
  • Connect with community resources.
The Child and Babytalk Drop-Ins take place at EarlyON Playgroups, so you'll get to meet other parents and children who live in your community.

Child and Babytalk Drop-Ins are free, and you don't need an appointment. Contact Child and Babytalk to see when the next drop-in is taking place in your area!

Healthy Babies Healthy Children

The Healthy Babies Healthy Children is a free home visiting program that helps children get a healthy start in life by helping expectant parents and families with children up to transition to school through:
  • Screening and assessments to identify any needs that could affect a child's healthy development
  • Supports for new parents
  • Help in finding community programs and resources on various subjects such as: breastfeeding, nutrition and health services, parenting and family literacy programs
To access the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program, patients can self-refer, or referrals may be made on their behalf by community service or health care providers. To refer to Healthy Babies Healthy Children:
KFL&A Public Health's home visiting team consists of registered nurses and family home visitors.

Early Expressions Preschool Speech and Language Program

Early Expressions is a system of partner agencies that provides speech and language services to children and their families in Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington. There is no cost to access the Early Expressions services, and children up to (and including) Junior Kindergarten age are eligible. Dental Health Programs and Services

KFL&A Public Health offers many programs and services to help children and youth ages 17 and under to take care of their oral health. Healthy Smiles Ontario and Children in Need of Treatment are funding programs for eligible children to receive dental care. The community dental hygiene clinics offer assessment, oral health education, and offer preventive services and/or treatment recommendations based on your child’s need.
