Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) provides income and employment supports to individuals who have disabilities and are in financial need. To be eligible you must (1) be 18 years of age or older, (2) live in Ontario, (3) be in financial need, and (4) have a disability (as defined under the ODSP Act) that directly results in a substantial restriction to work, take care of yourself, or take part in community life. This must be verified by an approved health care professional. You can apply online (click here to visit the Ministry of Community and Social Services) or by contacting the ODSP office (613-545-4553) to set up an appointment. Applying for ODSP is a two step process. First you must qualify financially and then determine your disability status. Remember to bring the following things with you: birth certificates, social insurance number, health number, employment history/information, income and asset statements, shelter (housing) costs, information about job or training program, status in Canada (i.e. citizen, immigrant), and evidence of trusteeship or power of attorney.

ODSP also offers employment supports. If you are eligible for income supports, you are automatically eligible for employment supports. However, if you are not receiving ODSP income supports, you might still be eligible for employment supports. Contact the ODSP Office for more information.
