Summer Camps

Category: Recreation
Ages: 0-24
All day camp programs are free, but registration is needed because spaces are limited. Children can sign up for a week at a time, but are not limited to only one camp per summer. Day Camp runs during July and August, from Monday to Friday 10:00am to 2:00pm. Overnight Adventure Camp does have a cost, but subsidies are available. This camp runs for one week during July. Day Camp

Category: Recreation
Ages: 6-12
  • Activities include Bible stories, music, games, crafts and much more.
  • Overnight Adventure Camp (ages 6-16): offers children a unique camp experience at The Salvation Army Jackson’s Point. Transportation is provided. 

Moms and Tots


A program for parents and caregivers to be active and interact with their babies, toddlers, and/or preschoolers. The program is offered on the first Tuesday of each month. Contact the Salvation Army Rideau Heights (613-541-3947) for more information.

Jesus and Me (JAM)

JAM is a free opportunity for children (ages 6 to 12) to learn about God in a fun and interactive way. Run by Queen’s University volunteers at the Salvation Army Rideau Heights, the group offers various games, activities, and crafts for participants. The program schedule follows the Queen’s semester schedule. JAM is offered on Thursday evenings, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Children's Choir


A free choir for children ages 5 and older. Children get the chance to learn new songs, how to play the recorder, and express their creativity using puppets. The choir is held every Wednesday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the Salvation Army Rideau Heights (183 Weller Ave). 

Ages 13 and up

Category: Food

Bread of Life Meals

A free hot meal served during the last 7 days of each month. Individuals can drop by the Salvation Army – Rideau Heights location between 3:30pm and 5:00pm. Individuals can also access other services (such as medical and dental clinic, legal clinic, etc.) during this time as well. 

Emergency Food Bank

The emergency food bank is open to those in need in the community. Appointments are available Tuesday and Thursday between 11:00am to 12:00pm. Once you’ve had an in-take interview, you can access the food bank once every 30 days. Bring I.D. and an income stub with you to your in-take appointment.

Men's Breakfast

Men in the community are invited to attend a breakfast, which includes guest speakers and fellowship. This is offered one Saturday per month (September to May) starting at 8:30am. The cost to participate is $3.00.

Special Women's Breakfast

Women are invited to attend a breakfast, which includes guest speakers and fellowship. This is offered approximately 4 times per year on Saturdays at 9:00am. The cost to participate is $5.00. 

Adults & Seniors

Literacy Upgrading

Category: Education
This program is offered by Kingston Literacy and Skills. Qualified teachers create a supportive and friendly environment for adults who are looking to upgrade their basic skills (literacy, numeracy, computer). The program runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Please refer to Kingston Literacy and Skills' LBS programfor more information.

Medical and Dental Clinic

Category: Health & Wellness
A free clinic open to the community, offered once during the last seven days of the month. The Dental Clinic can only be accessed by those who are not obtaining financial assistance with Ontario Works or ODSP. Contact the Salvation Army Rideau Heights (613-541-3947) for more information and to find out when the medical and dental clinic will be open.
